3 The site of the ancient city has been declared an archaeological site
The Seyhan Dam Lake Reservoir Area in the Sarıçam district of Adana, where the ancient city of Augusta is located, has been declared a first-degree archaeological site by the Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural Heritage. The decision, published in the Official Gazette on January 11, 2026, and entering into force on the same date, is considered an important step in the protection of the historical and cultural heritage in the region.
During periods when the water level in the Seyhan Dam Lake drops, the remains of the Roman-era ancient city of Augusta, near the Karaömerli neighborhood of the Sarıçam district, reappear. It has been learned that coins, tombstones, and various architectural fragments from this ancient city, dating back to the 1st century BC, have been found and are preserved in museums in Adana.
This area has been declared a first-degree archaeological site by the Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural Heritage. With the decision published in the Official Gazette on January 11, 2026, the Seyhan Dam Lake reservoir area and the surrounding historical regions were placed under protection, and it was decided that all excavations, scientific research, and development plans in the region would be carried out in accordance with the status of a first-degree archaeological site.
Officials stated that the high probability of finding prehistoric and ancient remains in the region, as well as its high cultural heritage value, were influential in the decision to designate it as a site.
Historian and author Cezmi Yurtsever, commenting on the issue, stated that the site designation decision is important and that comprehensive archaeological studies should be conducted in the region.
Yurtsever said, “An ancient city was built approximately 2000 years ago in memory of Livia, the wife of Roman Emperor Augustus. Coins used during that period are coming to light. One side features Livia, and the other side features the river goddess. The existence of an ancient city, visible only from the surface, is known without archaeological excavations.”
Yurtsever stated that underwater archaeological studies should be conducted in the area, saying, “It is a belated decision to designate it as an archaeological site. The area was flooded in 1955.
71 years have passed since then. Although it has been declared an archaeological site today, there are many artifacts remaining underwater. Despite this, work needs to be done in the area.”
Yurtsever also claimed that there are remnants of a theater building, columns, roads, and water channels in the area, adding that scientific studies would make significant contributions to the history of Adana.

1 Mommy makeovers can correct multiple areas
Specialist in Aesthetic, Plastic, and Reconstructive Surgery, Mahmut Özyılmaz, stated that some permanent changes can occur in the body after childbirth, saying, “Loosening of abdominal muscles, sagging skin, sagging breasts, loss of volume, and fat accumulation in the legs are the most common problems after childbirth.
‘Mommy makeover’ can prevent these problems from becoming permanent. Correcting the deformations that occur in the body after childbirth allows a woman to feel good about herself again and increases her self-confidence.”
Providing information about mommy makeover procedures, also known as “mommy makeover,” Mahmut Özyılmaz, a specialist in Aesthetic, Plastic, and Reconstructive Surgery at Acıbadem Bursa Hospital, said, “The changes that occur in the body during pregnancy and after childbirth don’t always have to be permanent.
Mommy makeover involves combined surgical procedures planned to reshape deformed areas and restore body proportions. With proper planning, women can feel better about themselves again thanks to mommy makeover.”
“Not every patient is subjected to the same procedure”
Emphasizing that mommy makeovers are planned individually, Özyılmaz stated, “Not every patient may need all the necessary surgeries. A personalized plan is created by evaluating the patient’s needs, expectations, body structure, and health status.”
“Breast aesthetics and tummy tucks are the most frequently performed procedures”
Özyılmaz noted that the most significant changes after childbirth and breastfeeding occur in the breast area, saying, “Breast augmentation, breast lift, or, if necessary, a combination of lift and augmentation or breast reduction surgeries can be planned. The patient’s expectations and body measurements are always taken into account.”
Touching upon changes in the abdominal area, Özyılmaz said, “After pregnancy, there may be relaxation of the abdominal muscles, sagging skin, and fat accumulation. With a tummy tuck, the sagging skin is removed, the abdominal muscles are tightened, and the waistline is reshaped.”
“Stubborn fat can be removed with liposuction”
Stating that fat accumulation can remain in some areas despite diet and exercise, Özyılmaz said, “Stubborn fat deposits can be seen in areas such as the waist, hips, inner thighs, and inner knees. Liposuction can remove fat from these areas, making body contours more balanced.”
“At least one year should pass after childbirth”
Özyılmaz stated that mommy makeovers can be applied to patients who have given birth, completed breastfeeding, and are in good general health, adding, “It is important that at least one year has passed after childbirth and that the weight loss process is complete.”
“Can be done in a single surgery in some patients”
Özyılmaz stated that multiple procedures can be performed in the same session, saying, “All procedures can be performed in a single surgery. However, the patient’s health status, weight, smoking habits, and any additional illnesses must be evaluated beforehand.”
“A rest period of approximately 10 days may be sufficient.”
Providing information about the recovery process, Özyılmaz stated, “Combined surgeries usually require a 2-night hospital stay. Afterwards, a rest period of approximately 10 days at home may be sufficient.”
“The goal is not just appearance, but regaining self-confidence.”
Finally, drawing attention to the psychological impact of mommy makeovers, Özyılmaz said, “Correcting the deformations that occur in the body after childbirth allows the woman to feel good about herself again and increases her self-confidence. Proper planning, patient compliance, and working with an experienced specialist are crucial for a successful outcome.”
2 A 6-year-old child is operating a construction vehicle as if it were a toy

At just 6 years old, he controls the machinery as if he were playing with a joystick on a computer. “I love this job, I can’t wait to wake up early in the morning and go to work with my father. When I grow up, I want to be a crane operator,” he said.
His father, Serdal Dikçal, the owner of the recycling company, stated that he has given both of his sons training to operate construction machinery from an early age.
