4 Grief at the grave of the 16-year-old boy who was stabbed to death
The family of 16-year-old Abdulbaki Demirel, who was repeatedly stabbed to death by his peers in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul, spent the first day of Eid al-Adha at their son’s grave. His mother, Müşerref Demirel, couldn’t hold back her tears, saying, “We were together with Baki last Eid al-Adha.”
4 The rain caused difficulties for both pedestrians and drivers
Heavy rainfall caused flooding in some neighborhoods, creating difficulties for residents and drivers. Following a strong rainfall warning issued by the Meteorology Department yesterday, the torrential downpour intensified today in Lüleburgaz district of Kırklareli, negatively impacting daily life. The rain, which began around 2 PM, continued uninterrupted until 5:30 PM. Authorities stated that the rain could continue until nighttime.
Some streets and roads in the district were quickly flooded, making it difficult for drivers to navigate traffic. Residents described the situation as “disaster-like.”
The heavy rainfall affected not only the center of Lüleburgaz but also some villages. It is estimated that approximately 30 to 40 kilograms of rain fell per square meter.
Meanwhile, some residents commented on the situation humorously. One resident remarked, “They used to say there was no sea in Lüleburgaz, now see if there is a sea or not.”
According to meteorological data, rainfall is expected to continue on Friday.
