Mona Alabirash, a Syrian national living in the Tarsus district of Mersin, learned that she appeared dead in official records during police control. Alabirash, who is considered dead in the system because he has not updated his address and registration for a long time, is trying to prove that he is alive in order to receive treatment.
Mona Alabirash, a 68-year-old Syrian national residing in the Tarsus district of Mersin, learned that she was registered as deceased in official systems during the police application carried out during her journey to the hospital. In the investigations, it was stated that Alabirash's failure to update its address and registration for many years caused this situation.
Mona Alabırash, who has been living in Tozkoparan Zahit District of Tarsus district for about 8 years, has been living together with 70-year-old Musa İnan in a religious marriage for 7 years. While the couple was on their way to Adana for treatment, they were stopped at the police station. During the General Information Screening (GBT) query, it was determined that Alabirash was registered as dead in the database.
Explaining the shocking moments they experienced, Musa İnan said that the police declared to them that his wife appeared dead in the system after the identity check.
Stating that when they applied to the civil registry office to correct the situation, they received the same response and were directed to Mersin Immigration Administration, İnan asked for help with the following words:
"He can neither go to a doctor nor benefit from some of the services offered by the state. He has a hernia and needs treatment. All we want is for my wife to be recorded in the official records that she is alive and to regain her identity."
