The winners of the Book Reading and Composition Competition have been announced
The award ceremony of the Book Reading and Composition Competition organized within the scope of the "Wise Generation with a Wise Generation" project held in Kütahya was held. The winners of the competition, in which approximately 400 students from 39 schools across Kütahya participated, received their awards.
Within the scope of the project, which was implemented with the aim of "a generation that reads, writes and thinks", high school students read different works and wrote compositions. Representatives of the education community, teachers, students and parents attended the award ceremony of the competition.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kütahya Provincial Director of National Education Mustafa Yılmaz stated that Turkish civilization was built on science, wisdom and wisdom, and drew attention to the role of non-governmental organizations at this point. Stating that there were dervishes, wise men and raiders who took on the leading role in the conquest of Anatolia and the Balkans in the past, Yılmaz said that today, a similar task is carried out by non-governmental organizations. Stating that the digital age poses various threats to young people and families, Yılmaz noted that non-governmental organizations hold young people's hands and guide them in this process. Yılmaz said, "Winning a place is possible by winning hearts. Today, our non-governmental organizations that reach out to our youth and establish contact with families undertake an important task."
"We must install the software of our civilization on young people"
Emphasizing that young people should be equipped not only with knowledge but also with culture and values, Yılmaz gave examples from technology and said:
"Hardware has no meaning without software. Even the most advanced computer or phone cannot function if the necessary software is not installed. This is also the case for our youth. The duty of all our non-governmental organizations, especially Memur-Sen and Eğitim-Bir-Sen, is to install software suitable for the culture of our civilization to our youth. The Wise Generation with a Knower project is a very valuable work in this sense."
Stating that with the project, students were introduced to works that reflect their culture, traditions and civilization values, Yılmaz said that education is not just about transferring information. Yılmaz said, "Knowledge alone is not enough. The important thing is to process the information and turn it into skill and knowledge. In addition, we have to introduce our children to wisdom. We will all work harder and struggle harder together."
"There are no losers in this competition"
Memur-Sen Kütahya Provincial Representative and Eğitim-Bir-Sen Kütahya Branch No. 1 President Fatih Köse said that the competition was an important gain not only for the students who placed in the competition, but also for all participants. "There is no book reading competition that has a loser," said Köse, adding, "This is also the case with our competition. We are together at the award ceremony of a book reading competition consisting of all the members and the winners."
Stating that within the scope of the competition, students were introduced to works that will contribute to their literary, scientific and intellectual development, Köse said, "We opened a way for our children to read works that we hope will serve both their literary, scientific and intellectual worlds. We see this project, which is perhaps a drop in the ocean among our work in the field of education, as an invaluable value in terms of the construction of the future of our country and the revival of our ancient civilization."
After the speeches, the awards were presented to the students who achieved success in the competition, and the teachers and consultants who contributed to the project were also thanked. It was stated that the project will continue to contribute to young people gaining reading habits and the development of their world of thought.
