According to the information obtained, the accident occurred in the Yedigöller location at the Uzundere district crossing of the Erzurum-Artvin highway. The brakes of the truck, driven down the ramp and driven by an Iranian driver whose name has not yet been learned, failed due to a technical malfunction.
Realizing that he could not control the rapidly accelerating truck, the Iranian driver jumped off the moving vehicle to save his life. The people in the opposite lane experienced great panic when they noticed the truck coming towards them uncontrollably and rapidly after its driver jumped.
The car, which made a sudden maneuver to avoid a head-on collision with the truck, crashed into the roadside barriers and then flew into the rocky area. The uncontrolled truck was able to stop lying on its side in the middle of the road.
Upon the notice of other drivers who saw the accident, many gendarmerie and 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to the scene. Medical teams determined that the driver who jumped from the truck died. The two people injured in the passenger car that crashed into the rocks were taken to Uzundere State Hospital after their first aid.
While gendarmerie teams took security measures, a large-scale investigation was launched into the accident.
